Calling Cricut-ers - Alcohol Ink on Permanent Vinyl
I was so thrilled to recently discover that I can add colour to my white permanent vinyl creations using alcohol inks.
I haven't attempted this on other colours yet, but I'm not even worried about it, it looks sooooo bright on white that I'm just going to keep using white for now.
I didn't put all the details in this (very short) video and have received some questions so here's some answers:
- I used standard alcohol inks from Michaels
- the style of Vinyl is Permanent Smart Vinyl which I used with my Cricut Joy
- it is a must to spray it with a sealant, which I did not show in the video! I used Krylon Satin Finish spray, but the more I research, the more I'm finding that there are better options, like Krylon Kamar Varnish so I plan on trying that next.
- I didn't use transfer tape because I didn't feel I needed it for this particular shape and size, but also out of fear of ruining the alcohol ink. So I will have to try this process again with multiple layers of varnish first, then using transfer tape for other cut outs!
Happy Cricut-ing!
